Former politician and AIADMK’s spokesperson, Kovai Selvaraj (66), passed away in Tirupati due to a sudden heart attack. He was attending his 3rd son’s wedding in Tirupati when he suddenly had a heart attack and passed away. He was especially active in Coimbatore, where he was involved in politics against Velumani. Edappadi Palaniswami, CV Shanmugam, and Jayakumar also criticized him strongly. After this, O. Panneerselvam announced that he was leaving his team because he was unhappy with him.
While attending his 3rd son’s wedding in Tirupati today, he fainted due to a sudden heart attack. His family and relatives took him to the nearest hospital, where doctors confirmed that he had already passed away. Relatives said that his body will be brought to Kota tomorrow morning for cremation.
In December 2023, Coimbatore Kovai Selvaraj left OPS and joined DMK along with Minister Senthil Balaji, in the presence of Chief Minister MK Stalin. After joining DMK, Coimbatore Selvaraj was made the deputy secretary of press communication and took part in debates.
Coimbatore Selvaraj started his political career in the Congress party and was a member for a long time. Notably, he served as a Congress MLA during the AIADMK government led by the late Chief Minister Jayalalithaa from 1991 to 1996.
