Rosie Perez was born on September 6, 1964, in the Bushwick area of Brooklyn, New York City. Her parents are Lydia Pérez and Ismael Serrano, who worked as a merchant marine seaman. Her mother was born October 13, 1939, in Humacao, Puerto Rico. Her mother was frequently in and out of jail and gave birth to her youngest child while imprisoned.
